Ivana Brenner
(b.1982, Buenos Aires)
She studied Apparel Design at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and then completed an MFA Master in Studio Art, Fiber and Material Studies Department, at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with a full merit scholarship. She attended the workshops of Carolina Antoniadis and Lola Goldstein and studied ceramics with Andrea Fasan and Jorge Bangueses. She also participated in the workshop "El texto de la obra" by Silvia Gurfein as well as art analysis workshops by Tulio de Sagastizábal and Gabriel Baggio.
She was selected for the 2020 NYFA Inmigrant Artist Mentoring Program for Visual & Multidisciplinary Artists, New York. In 2015 Brenner completed a residency at the Biennale Internationale du Lin de Portneuf Residency, Québec, Canada and in 2009 a six-month residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris.
She received the 1st Mention of the XVII Premio Klemm 2013, and she was selected in the awards Curriculum 0, Galería Ruth Benzacar (2006), Premio Klemm (2011,2012, 2014) and Premio Proyecto A (2004).
In 2011 she presented her first solo exhibition Urpflanze at Alejandra von Hartz Gallery, Miami and in 2015 Rumbo a la disolución in Vasari. Among her group shows include: A su lado, two person show with Sofia Quirno in Vasari (2019); Prelude to the Flood, New Works, Chicago, (2018); Assemblage #6, Le dégel, with Amy Stephens, Space in Progress, Julio artist-run space, Paris (2017); Shifting the Center, Sullivan Galleries, Chicago (2017); My Feet Have Lost Memory of Softness, The Franklin, Chicago (2016); Work and Worth, Biennale Internationale du Lin de Portneuf, Québec (2015); Romántico, Fundación PROA, Buenos Aires (2014); PINTA Art Fair, Jaggedart Gallery, London; A un Millón de Años Luz de Casa (Two-person).
