Fabián Burgos

(Buenos Aires, 1962)

He began his studies in the workshop of Luis Felipe Noé (1985-1987) and later with Ahuva Szlimowicz (1987-1988). Between 1991 and 1993 he participated in the fellowship Beca de la Fundación Antorchas, coordinated by Guillermo Kuitca. He presented his first solo exhibition at the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana (ICI) in 1993 and since then has been exhibiting regularly.

Among other distinctions, he received the 2nd Prize of the award Premio Aerolíneas Argentinas a las Artes Visuales, 2002; the grant Subsidio Anual a la Creación, Fundación Antorchas in 1996; Mention of honor of the Premio “Nuevo Mundo” para jóvenes artistas, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, (1991 y 1987); Special mention, Premio Quinquela Martín, Museo Sívori, 1987.

Since 2008, the artist has developed a series of murals in the public space. First at Av. 9 de Julio in Buenos Aires, in the framework of the urban intervention program Arte en el Plata, organized by the Ministries of Culture and Environment and Public Space of the City of Buenos Aires and the Banco Ciudad Foundation. He presented the work Velocidad, a large printed fabric of 34 by 88 meters that covered the facade of the building Edificio del Plata. In 2017, he made three murals of immense proportions, painted on the facades of the Brickell Heights and Brickell Lux buildings in Miami.
