Painter, writer, performer and musician. In 1970 he held his first solo exhibition at the Lirolay gallery and the following year he entered the career of Literature at the Univerisdad de Buenos Aires. In the 80s, he participated in numerous joint projects and was part of the exhibition La anavanguardia in Estudio Giesso. In 1985 he took part the Argentine representation in the XVIII Biennial of Sao Paulo.
He made numerous solo exhibitions among which stand out: El pequeño pabellón entre las plantas de melón, ICI, 1999; Antología, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, 1998; Tribulaciones de un chino en Roma y otras tribulaciones sobre papel, Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, 2003; La guerra de los estilos, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, 2004; No toda es pintura la de los ojos abiertos, Museo Caraffa, Córdoba, 2010; Un verde pensar bajo una sombra verde, MALBA–Fundación Costantini, 2010; La felicidad en un minuto, MBA-MAC Bahía Blanca, 2014; Al Imperio de las Musas, Sala Cronopios, Centro Cultural Recoleta, 2015; Antológica, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Neuquén y Museo Franklin Rawson, San Juan, 2016.
In 1997 he presented his first performance, "Rrose Sélavy desnudada por el Capitán Nemo", at Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires. It was followed by "Cómo resucitar a una liebre muerta" (MAMBA, 1998), "El gran bingo chino" (ICI, 1999) and "Jackson Pollock en el Amazonas" (La Fábrica IMPA, 2004). n these performances, Prior works on 20th century artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Joseph Beuys and Jackson Pollock.
In 2006 he published Cómo resucitar a una liebre muerta, edited by Mansalva, which compiles some of his fiction texts. In 2012 he published El triunfo de Adriano, edited by La Sofía Cartonera of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoband, and two years later another poetry book, Elegías del Dino, by the same publisher.
In 2007 he presented the book Alfredo Prior by Ediciones Vasari, a selection of his works to date with text by Rafael Cippolini.
Among other distinctions, he received in 1987 the Award of the Asociación Argentina de Críticos de Arte, the Second Prize of the Premio Fortabat in 1988, the Premio Jorge Romero Brest in 1995, the Beca Antorchas in 2002, the First Prize in the IX Premio Nacional de Pintura del Banco Central in 2016, and the second prize of the Salón Nacional de Pintura in 2017.
